Presented several times each day, Merlin would appear and invite members of the audience to try pulling the sword out. Pull the sword out of the stone and you are crowned king. There is also another Sword in the Stone monument located in Disneyland. The Sword in the Stone was still a work of whimsy when Walt Disney took a shine to it. It does not seem to be Merlin who does it, but some cast member accomplice. They pick a few people from the crowd and they have a couple people try and can't and then finally and always a kid - gets to pull the sword out. The Sword in the Stone monument is located near Prince Charming’s Regal Carousel at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
